Which Ford Everest variants get the new V6 engine?

Chasing Cars has put together a quick guide to let you know which new Everest model to choose if you’re looking for a V6 turbo-diesel grunt

While Ford Everest’s biggest powerhouse is undoubtedly its new 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine, it won’t be available as an option on all variants of the Everest lineup.

The full specification for the Australian market has yet to be released and may change over time, but here’s a breakdown of what we know so far about the powertrains in the 2022 Ford Everest lineup.

The new Ford Everest Sport

Fast engine facts

Ford’s 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine (as used in previous Ranger and Everest) currently produced 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque. That might change with the next-generation Everest as Ford hasn’t released any official rides yet, but we do know it will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel-drive system.

The horsepower ratings of the all-new 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine have also not been revealed, but chase cars understands that the new V6 will offer at least 190kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

This 3.0 liter “Power Stroke” engine has been available since 2018 in overseas markets such as the United States where it has been used in vehicles such as the Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The 3.0-litre V6 diesel will also be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a permanent four-wheel-drive system.

Which variant gets which engine?

As the entry-level model in the Ford Everest range, the Ambiente model will likely only get the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine – potentially with rear-wheel drive in a future price leader.

Previously the top-selling model, the Everest Trend will likely only get the 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine. There has been no confirmation from Ford Australia as to whether the V6 diesel may be optional on Everest Trend.

Ford Australia has confirmed that the Everest Sport will be available with the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel, but it’s also likely that the 2.0-litre twin-turbo unit will be offered at this trim level to create a class-leading sporty price. .

The top-of-the-line Everest Platinum has so far been the only variant confirmed to exclusively use the new V6 engine. Unless customers request it (which is unlikely), the smaller 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder won’t be available in an Everest Platinum.
