Ertiga updated for debut with new K-series engine

The Maruti Ertiga is set to receive a mid-cycle update which is expected to launch later this month. The automaker has officially opened reservation for the minivan and potential customers can visit either Arena dealerships or the company’s website to reserve the new Ertiga with a down payment of Rs 11,000.

Maruti has confirmed that the new Ertiga will feature a new 1.5-litre K-series Dual VVT engine. benefit from a new 6-speed automatic gearbox that will feature paddle shifters. The new Ertiga will also be offered with an S-CNG version for the better equipped ZXi version.

In terms of equipment, the new MPV will also see an improvement over the current model. Maruti has confirmed that it will get a number of new features such as a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with ‘Suzuki Connect’ connected car technology.

Design-wise, not many changes are expected with the new Ertiga. Maruti has shared the first teaser image for the MPV and the model has already been tested on our roads, and according to the images the main change will be the new grille design which is similar to that seen on the new Baleno.

Once launched, the new Ertiga will face off against Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and even face competition from the updated version of its plush sibling – the XL6.

Maruti Suzuki plans to launch six new models by mid-2022. These include the new Ertiga and updated XL6 as well as the Baleno CNG, new Vitara Brezza and DualJet-equipped Ignis and S-Presso. The automaker is also working on an all-new Creta-rivaling midsize SUV that is being co-developed with Toyota and is set to launch later this year. The Jimny is expected to arrive in Maruti Suzuki showrooms next year.

Maruti sold approximately 126,000 Ertigas in FY22.
