Accelleron launches data-driven service contract for medium-speed engine turbochargers

Accelleron, the new face of ABB Turbocharge, has launched a new data-driven service agreement with a customer portal that uses the power of analytics to optimize turbocharger maintenance, advise on turbocharger health and improve OPEX. Turbo SmartCare offers more flexible maintenance by putting intelligent, remote information provided by Accelleron’s expert engineers in the hands of the vessel operator.

By introducing Turbo SmartCare to the medium-speed four-stroke engine market, Accelleron is transforming turbocharger maintenance at a time when fuel consumption and emissions generated by the global marine fleet are under increasing scrutiny. Turbochargers play a key role in decarbonizing boating operations, not only by helping to reduce fuel consumption, but also because of their critical health condition for optimal engine performance.

Accelleron’s SmartCare Hero

Turbo SmartCare is moving away from standard fixed-term service agreements that are defined by fixed inspection milestones, regardless of the actual state or health of the turbocharger, towards data-driven analysis that will positively impact excess emissions and reduce unnecessary expense on turbocharger maintenance.

Via the intuitive Loreka customer portal, users have 24/7 access to easy-to-interpret fleet-wide turbocharger health indicators using traffic light status and accompanying advice provided by Accelleron experts.

Under the new offering, Accelleron is offering warranty coverage for the duration of the service contract, which is based on a fixed price per hour of operation and covers scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with protection against unforeseen events and turbocharger wear. This gives Turbo SmartCare customers complete financial predictability allowing them to plan accurately without unexpected costs.

This type of agreement represents a fundamental change in the way we service turbochargers in our industry.
