2022 Toyota Camry Facelift Gets Exterior Updates, Hybrid Engine
Toyota Camry 2022 gets visual revisions, interior upgrades with new touchscreen infotainment system and 2.5-liter gasoline / hybrid engine
The updated version of the Toyota Camry went on sale in Thailand and is priced at 1,475,000 baht (Rs. 32.93 lakh approx) for the entry-level model and goes up to 1,809,000 Baht (Rs. 40.38 lakh approximately) for the high end. It is available in 2.5 Sport, 2.5 Premium, 2.5 HEV Premium and 2.5 HEV Premium Luxury versions.
For customers who want the Modellista accessory pack with an aero kit and a fin from Japan, they will have the hull in addition to 41,000 baht (Rs. 91,539 approximately). Following its global debut in international markets, the updated Camry entered Singapore earlier this year and has now made its debut in Thailand.
The redesigned eighth-generation Toyota Camry comes with the absence of the base 2.0-liter engine as a single 2.5-liter Dynamic Force naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine is used. It develops a maximum power of 209 hp at 6,600 rpm and 250 Nm of maximum torque delivered at 5,000 rpm.
The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Japanese auto major claims that the 2.5-liter engine will deliver similar fuel economy to the older 2.0-liter engine while producing more power. The same gasoline mill works in tandem with a hybrid system because the Atkinson cycle variant produces 178 PS at 5,700 rpm and 221 Nm at 3,600-5,200 rpm.
The electric motor is capable of 88 PS and 202 Nm and it helps the hybrid model to have a total system power of 211 PS. The Nickel Metal Hydride battery is located under the rear seats for a lower center of gravity and additional luggage space. Toyota has introduced a few exterior revisions which can be seen on the front fascia and similarly, the interior has been refreshed as well.
The sedan gains a redesigned upper grille, chrome accents, a more prominent central air intake, and more. The interior of the Toyota Camry 2022 receives a new nine-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, the use of better surface materials, Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ with pedal misapplication control, brake rear cross traffic, daytime pedestrian and cyclist detection for autonomous emergency braking technology, etc.
